As a Visual Artist, Melissa received her first artistic instruction from her mother, Milagros Henriquez, who majored in Fine Art at Lehman College while Melissa was growing up. Afterwards, Melissa moved to the Dominican Republic for 3 years and attended the Bellas Artes School in Santo Domingo. Upon moving back to New York in 2000, Melissa continued sketching and drawing the darkly whimsical images which characterize her artwork today.
